LET'S BREAK FREE FROM WAR INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE -- APRIL 25, 2020

LET'S BREAK FREE FROM WAR INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE -- APRIL 25, 2020

Since 1945 up to these days, war has never ended. The Second World War was followed by the Cold War, then by an endless series of armed conflits. Today we find ourselves in a situation that can be defined as a New Cold War, with the increased risk of a catastrophic nuclear confrontation.

War serves the interests of the economic and financial elites, and it claims its victims mostly among the poorest parts of the population. Financial and economic warfare is often more destructive than traditional weapons. The result: forced migrations and immense human tragedies.

April the 25th marks the 75th Anniversary of the Liberation of Italy from Nazi-fascism, and the birth of Italian Constitution that repudiates war. On this day, we will meet in Florence and urge the creation of a large national and international front aiming to free ourselves from the system of war that imprision us:
Ø  stop the mad nuclear arms race constituting the main threat to the living environment on Earth,
Ø  demand an economy of Peace and not of War, and therefore to stop wasting immense resources for military purposes,
Ø  and, ultimately, practice our human rights to freedom of speech and information regarding key issues that determine the future of humankind.
