Al-Baghdadi was US ‘spawn’, his death is still an open question – Lavrov
Russia still cannot verify Washington’s claims about the elimination of the Islamic State leader, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said, adding that the US facilitated the rise of the group in the first place.
Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the (now former) leader of the notorious terrorist group Islamic State  (IS, formerly ISIS) “is or was if he is really dead a spawn of the United States,” the minister told the Russian Rossiya 24 broadcaster.
“ISIS as such came into existence in the wake of the US illegal invasion of Iraq, the collapse of the Iraqi state and the release of extremists that Americans previously kept in prisons there…”
So, to a certain degree, the Americans have now eliminated their own spawn, if it did happen.

Lavrov also said that the Russian military still do not have enough information to confirm with confidence that the self-proclaimed ‘Caliph’ is indeed dead. “We want to get additional information,” he said.
“It was all stated triumphantly and jubilantly. Yet, our military still study the issue and … cannot confirm many US statements so far.”

The US was “arrogant” to send its troops to guard oilfields in Syria, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has said, adding that it remains unclear from whom the installations need to be protected.
The actions of the Americans in Syria violate international law, as their presence in the country is “illegal,” Lavrov reiterated, appearing alongside his Iranian and Turkish counterparts at a press-conference in Geneva, Switzerland.
The statement that this [US] presence is needed to protect the oil riches of Syria is arrogant. It turns out that they are being protected from Syria itself.
Washington’s claims that oilfields needed protection from Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) terrorist group were just a pretext to backtrack on the withdrawal of the US troops from Syria, which was earlier announced by Donald Trump.
Such statement sound especially confusing as “back in March, the US already announced that Islamic State is defeated, crushed,” he reminded.

Either he doesn’t know what he’s doing or he’s outright trying to he hostile to the rest of the world

 


Trump’s lack of consistency relative to the nuclear disarmament of the North Korean regime and peace in the region seems to betray that he isn’t particularly interested in achieving a resolution of the issues that have plagued US-DPRK relations for over six decades. By looking at the threats he has been making of unleashing nuclear annihilation on the northeastern Asian country, one can gather, rather, that he may actually be hostile to North Korea personally. This, due to the fact that any legitimate push for peace and disarmament would be something to consistently and cautiously and incrementally move towards in a deliberate fashion. Trump, on the other hand, does anything but.
Following the meeting between the Russian Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov, and Kim Jong Un, Trump’s response initially was that of frustration with it, as though it should not have happened. Then, he performs an about face on the issue by stating that it could be a very positive thing, before returning to his conclusion that it might have been a bad thing, all based on whatever an outcome that hasn’t manifested itself yet yields.

BREAKING: Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov to visit North Korea tomorrow on invitation from Pyongyang

The manner in which any peace arrangement is concluded is of much interest for the Russians

 



As reported by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Russian Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov, will be travelling to Pyongyang for a visit with his North Korean counterpart tomorrow.
The agenda is set to cover relations between the two nations, as well as covering areas of regional and international concern.
The North Korean Foreign Minister, Ri Yong-ho, has recently visited Moscow, following which the invitation for Lavrov to journey to Pyongyang was given.
The South China Morning Post reported yesterday events leading up to the visit:
The report did not say when Lavrov would arrive in North Korea or the reason behind the visit.
News of Lavrov’s visit follows comments by Russian President Vladimir Putin calling for restraint to keep North Korean leader Kim Jong-un at the negotiating table, and comes as plans for a historic meeting between Kim and US President Donald Trump appear to be progressing.
Vladimir Putin said on Friday that finding a solution to the North Korea nuclear tensions is of great importance to Russia and says North Korea’s sovereignty should be guaranteed.
A full denuclearisation of North Korea” should involve giving “North Korea a guarantee of their sovereignty and inviolability”, Putin said.
“If you don’t behave aggressively and if you don’t corner North Korea, the result that we need will be achieved faster than many would think, and at less cost.”

The world has been alarmed by the very real possibility of a direct military confrontation between the United States and Russia. Syria is where the current tensions are highest, and where missiles have been fired, but the hostility is deep-seated on a number of fronts, which is why facts on these issues matter.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov sat down for an interview for HARDtalk with Stephen Sackur of the BBC, setting the record straight on Syria, the Skripal poisoning and the new Cold War.
Lavrov effortlessly shames the British journalist, putting him in his place, at one point telling him, “this may be HARDtalk, but you’re not listening.” After interrupting Lavrov one too many times, Lavrov utters, “for a Brit, you are very rude.”
Aside from the brillant zingers from the veteran foreign minister, Sergey Lavrov rips apart the Western narrative behind the Skripal poisoning, the alleged chemical attack in Douma, Syria, and even admitting that relations between the West and Russia are far worse than the Cold War.

Porque é que isto está a acontecer? De onde veio esta forma insolente de falar que atinge o máximo do seu excepcionalismo, infalibilidade e permissividade? Qual é a explicação para esta atitude de desprezo e desdém pelos nossos interesses e exigências absolutamente legítimas?
