LR - The most necessary introduction would be to emphasise that the Khazar Jews really do have a plan for a one-world government which will hold all the nations of the world in a kind of massive fascist dictatorship that will in turn be controlled exclusively by Jews. It has been easy in the past to dismiss this as a “conspiracy theory”, but the facts are solid and the evidence is everywhere. It hasn’t even been a secret. As early as 1950, James Warburg testified to the US Congress that “We shall have world government, whether we like it. The question is only whether world government will be achieved by consent or by conquest.” James was the son of Paul Warburg who was the father of the Jewish-owned US FED, and very active in promoting the Morgenthau plan for the permanent destruction of Germany after the Second World War. The main issues are then how this is to be achieved and what the landscape will look like at the end.

Vyacheslav Nikonov: La palabra “guerra” se escucha últimamente cada vez con más frecuencia. Los políticos de Estados Unidos y de la OTAN, y más aún los militares ucranianos, no tienen ningún problema en pronunciarla. ¿Tienen más razones para estar preocupados ahora que antes?

Serguéi Lavrov: Sí y no. Por un lado, la confrontación ha tocado fondo. Por otro, en el fondo, todavía hay esperanza de que seamos adultos y comprendamos los riesgos asociados a una mayor escalada de las tensiones. Vyacheslav Nikonov: The word “war” has been heard increasingly more often lately. US and NATO politicians, even more so the Ukrainian military, have no trouble saying it. Do you have more reasons to be concerned now than ever before?

Sergey Lavrov: Yes and no. On the one hand, the confrontation has hit bottom. On the other, deep down, there’s still hope that we are adults and understand the risks associated with escalating tensions further. However, our Western colleagues introduced the word “war” into the diplomatic and international usage. “The hybrid war unleashed by Russia” is a very popular description of what the West perceives as the main event in international life. I still believe that good judgment will prevail.

Vyacheslav Nikonov: Recently, the United States has ratcheted the degree of confrontation up to never-before-seen proportions. President Joe Biden said President Vladimir Putin is a “killer.” We have recalled Russian Ambassador to the United States Anatoly Antonov.

Sergey Lavrov: He was invited for consultations.

Vyacheslav Nikonov: Hence, the question: How do we go about our relations now? How long will this pause last? When will Mr Antonov return to Washington?

Sergey Lavrov: What we heard President Biden say in his interview with ABC is outrageous and unprecedented. However, one should always see the real actions behind the rhetoric, and they began long before this interview back during the Barack Obama administration. They continued under the Trump administration, despite the fact that the 45th US President publicly spoke in favour of maintaining good relations with Russia, with which he was willing to “get along,” but was not allowed to do so. I’m talking about the consistent degradation of the deterrent infrastructure in the military-political and strategic spheres.

Today we spend the hour with General Wesley Clark, the retired four-star general. He was the Supreme Allied Commander of NATO during the Kosovo War. In 2004 he unsuccessfully ran for the Democratic presidential nomination. He recently edited a series of books about famous U.S. generals including Dwight Eisenhower and Ulysses Grant – both of whom became president after their military careers ended.

Australian-born John Pilger has worked for over five decades as a reporter and documentary film-maker covering wars and conflicts all over the world. In the following interview, the award-winning journalist says the world is arguably at a more perilous geopolitical juncture than even during the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962 at the height of the Cold War. This is because American “exceptionalism” – which, he points out, mirrors that of Nazi Germany – has developed into a hyper-rogue phase. The relentless denigration of Russia by American and Western media show that there are few red lines left to restrain aggression towards Moscow, as there were, at least, during the past Cold War. Russia and China’s refusal to bow down to Washington’s dictate is infuriating the would-be American hegemon and its desire for zero-sum world domination.

John Pilger also gives his wide-ranging views on the systematic deterioration of Western mainstream journalism which has come to function as a nakedly propaganda matrix for power and corporate profit. He further condemns the ongoing persecution and torture of fellow-Australian publisher Julian Assange who is being held in a maximum-security British prison commonly used for holding mass murderers and convicted terrorists. Assange is being persecuted for telling the truth and for exposing huge crimes by the US and Britain, says Pilger. It is a grim warning of a covert war that is being conducted against independent journalism and free speech, and, more ominously, indicative of a slide towards police-state fascism in so-called Western democracies.

INTERVIEW

Question: In your documentary film, The Coming War on China (2016), you assess that the United States is on a strategic collision path with China for control of Asia-Pacific. Do you still see the threat of war looming between these two powers?

John Pilger: The threat of war may not be immediate, but we know or should know that events can change fast: a chain of incidents and missteps can ignite a war which can spread unpredictably. The calculations are not in dispute: an “enemy” has barely 12 minutes to decide whether and where to order a nuclear retaliation.

Question: Recently, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo accused China of being “truly hostile to America’s interests”. What in your view is motivating US concerns about China?

Q: Do we see an increase in the number of countries resisting the bullying of the United States and its allies? What makes this resistance happen?

A: I believe that there are two main factors. The first one is the ‘moral one’: People are more and more aware of the brutality of the Western colonialism, neo-colonialism and imperialism, which have been torturing the planet for many centuries. This awareness became possible mainly thanks to the non-Western mass media outlets, such as RT, Telesur, Press TV, CGTN, but also NEO, Global Times and Sputnik. The second one is the “practical aspect”: Countries like Iran, Venezuela, or Cuba are looking around, and what they see are horrors that are happening to neighboring nations, which have already succumbed to the Western dictate: Iraq, Afghanistan, Honduras, for instance. They see total devastation and collapse, and they are coming to a logical conclusion: “Being a slave of the Western empire does not pay. It is better to maintain dignity and to fight for independence, no matter what. Dying upright is better than surviving on one’s knees, in a puddle of excrement.”

Q: Is it the US that has weakened or countries that resist have become stronger?

A: Both. The U.S. is weak because it is morally defunct. There is nothing optimistic in terrorizing other nations. To run an imperialist empire is deeply nihilistic and gloomy. To live from plunder is depressing. Depression and pessimism, nihilism and constant outbursts of aggressiveness, are weakening the spirit. On the other hand, positive resistance and revolutionary spirit, are strengthening both nations and the individuals. I described it in detail in my revolutionary philosophy book, “Revolutionary Optimism, Western Nihilism.”

Q: What happens to a country that does not resist the oppression of powerful countries? What makes countries surrender to the West and not believe in their own power?

Q: Qual è stato il risultato del Convegno di Firenze?

Michel Chossudovsky : È stato un evento di massimo successo, con la partecipazione di qualificati relatori provenienti da Stati uniti, Europa e Russia. È stata presentata la storia della Nato. Sono stati identificati e attentamente documentati i crimini contro l’umanità. Al termine del Convegno è stata presentata la «Dichiarazione di Firenze» per uscire dal sistema della guerra.

Q : Nella sua relazione introduttiva lei ha affermato che l’Alleanza atlantica non è un’alleanza…

Michel Chossudovsky : Sotto la sembianza di un’alleanza militare multinazionale è invece il Pentagono a dominare il meccanismo decisionale della Nato. Gli Usa controllano le strutture di comando della Nato, che sono incorporate in quelle statunitensi. Il Comandante Supremo Alleato in Europa (Saceur) è sempre un generale statunitense nominato da Washington. Il Segretario generale, attualmente Jens Stoltenberg, è essenzialmente un burocrate addetto a pubbliche relazioni. Non ha alcun ruolo decisionale.

Q : Un altro tema da lei sollevato è quello delle basi militari Usa in Italia e in altri paesi europei, anche a est, nonostante il Patto di Varsavia non esista più dal1991 e nonostante la promessa fatta a Gorbaciov che nessun allargamento a est ci sarebbe stato. A che servono?

Michel Chossudovsky : Il tacito obiettivo della Nato – tema rilevante del nostro dibattito a Firenze – è stato quello di attuare, sotto diversa denominazione, «l’occupazione militare» de facto dell’Europa occidentale. Gli Stati uniti non solo continuano a «occupare» gli ex «paesi dell’Asse» della Seconda guerra mondiale (Italia, Germania), ma hanno usato l’emblema della Nato per installare basi militari Usa in tutta l‘Europa occidentale e, successivamente, nell’Europa Orientale sulla scia della guerra fredda e nei Balcani sulla scia della guerra Nato contro la Jugoslavia (Serbia-Montenegro).

Q : Cos’è cambiato riguardo a un possibile uso di armi nucleari?

Michel Chossudovsky: Subito dopo la guerra fredda è stata formulata una nuova dottrina nucleare, focalizzata sull’uso preventivo di armi nucleari, cioè sul first strike nucleare quale mezzo di autodifesa. Nel quadro degli interventi Usa-Nato, presentati quali azioni per il mantenimento della pace, è stata creata una nuova generazione di armi nucleari di «bassa potenza» e «più utilizzabili», descritte come «innocue per i civili». I responsabili politici statunitensi le considerano «bombe per la pacificazione». Gli accordi della guerra fredda, che stabilivano alcune salvaguardie, sono stati cancellati. Il concetto di «Mutua Distruzione Assicurata», relativo all’uso delle armi nucleari, è stato sostituito dalla dottrina della guerra nucleare preventiva.

Q : La Nato era «obsoleta» nel primo tempo della presidenza Trump ma ora è rilanciata dalla Casa bianca. Che relazione c’è tra corsa agli armamenti e crisi economica?

Michel Chossudovsky : Guerra e globalizzazione vanno di pari passo. La militarizzazione sostiene l’imposizione della ristrutturazione macro-economica nei paesi bersaglio. Impone la spesa militare per sostenere l’economia di guerra a detrimento dell’economia civile. Porta alla destabilizzazione economica e alla perdita di potere delle istituzioni nazionali. Un esempio: ultimamente il presidente Trump ha proposto grossi tagli a sanità, istruzione e infrastrutture sociali, mentre richiede un grosso aumento per il budget del Pentagono. All’inizio della sua amministrazione, il presidente Trump ha confermato l’aumento della spesa per il programma nucleare militare, varato da Obama, da 1.000 a 1.200 miliardi di dollari, sostenendo che ciò serve a mantenere il mondo più sicuro. In tutta l’Unione europea l’aumento della spesa militare, abbinato a misure di austerità, sta portando alla fine di quello che veniva definito «welfare state». Ora la Nato è impegnata sotto pressione statunitense ad aumentare la spesa militare e il segretario generale Jens Stoltenberg dichiara che questa è la cosa giusta da fare per «mantenere la sicurezza della nostra popolazione». Gli interventi militari sono abbinati a concomitanti atti di sabotaggio economico e manipolazione finanziaria. Obiettivo finale è la conquista delle risorse sia umane che materiali e delle istituzioni politiche. Gli atti di guerra sostengono un processo di completa conquista economica. Il progetto egemonico degli Stati uniti è di trasformare i paesi e le istituzioni internazionali sovrane in territori aperti alla loro penetrazione. Uno degli strumenti è l’imposizione di pesanti vincoli ai paesi indebitati. Ad impoverire vasti settori della popolazione mondiale concorre l’imposizione di letali riforme macro-economiche.

Q : Qual è e quale dovrebbe essere il ruolo dei media?

Michel Chossudovsky : Senza la disinformazione attuata, in genere, da quasi tutti i media, l’agenda militare Usa-Nato crollerebbe come castello di carte. I pericoli incombenti di una nuova guerra con i più moderni armamenti e del pericolo atomico, non sono notizie da prima pagina. La guerra è rappresentata quale azione di pacificazione. I criminali di guerra sono dipinti come pacificatori. La guerra diviene pace. La realtà è capovolta. Quando la menzogna diviene verità, non si può tornare indietro.

Q: Qual foi o resultado da Conferência de Florença?

Michel Chossudovsky  : Foi um acontecimento de máximo sucesso, com a participação de oradores qualificados dos Estados Unidos, Europa e Rússia. Foi apresentada a história da NATO. Os crimes contra a Humanidade foram identificados e cuidadosamente documentados. No final da Conferência, a foi apresentada a “Declaração de Florença” para sair do sistema de guerra.

Q : Na sua introdução, afirmou que a Aliança Atlântica não é uma aliança…  

Michel Chossudovsky  : Pelo contrário, sob o disfarce de uma aliança militar multinacional, o Pentágono domina o mecanismo da tomada de decisões da NATO. Os EUA controlam as estruturas de comando da NATO, que estão incorporadas nas dos EUA. O Comandante Supremo Aliado na Europa (SACEUR) é sempre um general americano, nomeado por Washington. O Secretário Geral, actualmente, Jens Stoltenberg, é essencialmente um burocrata encarregado das relações públicas. Não tem nenhum papel decisivo.

Q : Outro tema salientado por si é o das bases militares dos EUA, em Itália e em outros países europeus, mesmo no Leste, apesar do Pacto de Varsóvia ter deixado de existir desde 1991 e apesar da promessa feita a Gorbachov de que não haveria expansão para Leste. Para que é que elas servem?

Michel Chossudovsky : O objetivo tácito da NATO - um tema relevante no nosso debate em Florença - foi instalar, sob uma designação diferente, uma “ocupação militar” de facto, na Europa Ocidental. Os Estados Unidos não só continuam a “ocupar” os antigos “países do Eixo” da Segunda Guerra Mundial (Itália, Alemanha), mas usaram o emblema da NATO para instalar bases militares dos EUA em toda a Europa Ocidental e, posteriormente, na Europa Oriental, no prosseguimento da Guerra Fria e nos Balcãs, na continuação da guerra da NATO contra a Jugoslávia (Sérvia e Montenegro).

Q : O que mudou sobre um possível uso de armas nucleares?

Michel Chossudovsky  : Logo após a Guerra Fria, foi formulada uma nova doutrina nuclear, focada no uso preventivo de armas nucleares, isto é ‘no first strike’ (primeiro ataque) nuclear como meio de autodefesa. No âmbito das intervenções USA/NATO, apresentadas como acções de manutenção da paz, foi criada uma nova geração de armas nucleares de “baixa potência” e “mais utilizáveis”, descritas como “inofensivas para os civis”. Os políticos americanos consideram-na “bombas para a pacificação”. Os acordos da Guerra Fria, que estabeleciam algumas salvaguardas, foram cancelados. O conceito de “Destruição Mútua Assegurada”, relativo ao uso de armas nucleares, foi substituído pela doutrina da guerra nuclear preventiva.

Q : A NATO estava “obsoleta” na primeira metade da presidência de Trump, mas agora é reactivada pela Casa Branca. Qual é a relação entre a corrida armamentista e a crise económica?

Michel Chossudovsky  : A guerra e globalização andam de mãos dadas. A militarização apoia a imposição da reestruturação macroeconómica nos países-alvo. Impõe a despesa militars para apoiar a economia de guerra em detrimento da economia civil. Leva à desestabilização económica e à perda de poder das instituições nacionais. 

Um exemplo: recentemente, o Presidente Trump propôs grandes cortes na saúde, na educação e na infraestrutura social, enquanto exigiu um grande aumento no orçamento do Pentágono. No início da sua administração, o Presidente Trump confirmou o aumento da despesa para o programa nuclear militar, lançado por Obama, de 1.000 a 1.200 biliões de dólares, alegando que isso serve para manter o mundo mais seguro. Em toda a União Europeia, o aumento da despesa militar, juntamente com medidas de austeridade, está a levar ao fim o que foi designado como “Welfare State” = “Estado Providência ou de bem-estar social”. 

Agora, a NATO está sob pressão dos EUA para aumentar as despesas militares e o Secretário Geral, Jens Stoltenberg, declara que essa é a coisa certa a fazer para “manter a segurança da nossa população”. As intervenções militares são combinadas com actos simultâneos de sabotagem económica e manipulação financeira. O objectivo final é a conquista dos recursos humanos e materiais e das instituições políticas. Os actos de guerra sustentam um processo de conquista económica completa. 

O projecto hegemónico dos Estados Unidos é transformar os países soberanos e as instituições internacionais em territórios abertos à sua penetração. Um dos instrumentos é a imposição de fortes restrições aos países endividados. Para empobrecer vastos sectores da população mundial contribui a  imposição de reformas macroeconómicas prejudiciais.

Q : Qual é e qual deveria ser o papel da comunicação mediática?

Michel Chossudovsky : Sem a desinformação distribuida, na generalidade, por quase toda a comunicação mediática, a agenda militar dos USA/NATO desabava como um castelo de cartas. Os perigos iminentes de uma nova guerra com as armas mais modernas e com o perigo atómico não são notícia de primeira página. A guerra é representada como uma acção de pacificação. Os criminosos de guerra são descritos como pacificadores. A guerra torna-se paz. A realidade está deturpada. Quando a mentira se torna verdade, não se pode voltar atrás.

Excerpts from a Daily Mail interview with President Bashar

President Bashar al-Assad has launched a furious attack on Britain, America and their allies, accusing them of deliberately prolonging the civil war in Syria.

Dismissing Theresa May as a colonialist and a liar, the Syrian leader claims Britain even helped stage April’s notorious chemical attack in the suburb of Douma and that its actions are giving support to the Islamic State terror group.

Today, in a rare and defiant interview, a man widely regarded as a pariah for his repressive regime – and widespread accusations that he has used chemical weapons – refuses to accept an iota of blame.

Instead, he places responsibility for the duration of the seven-year conflict squarely at the feet of Britain and America. Western powers, he says, should get out of Syria and allow the bloodshed to end.

Assad is in an outspoken mood – and believes he has good reason to be confident. Today, for the first time in six years, his forces are in full control of the Syrian capital while, thanks to the support of Russian and Iranian allies, rebel fighters and IS are firmly in retreat.

É importante ter isso em mente e essa é uma das razões pelas quais escrevi o livro, por causa do que estava já claro depois do golpe de estado da CIA em 2014 na Ucrânia e todas as sanções contra a Rússia de Putin e tal.
 

Porque se não se compreende isso, se não se compreende o que realmente aconteceu nos anos 1990s, não se compreende o ódio profundo, insuperável, que há nesses neoconservadores de Washington e seus think-tanks e no establishment político dos EUA, contra a Rússia de Putin e o nacionalismo que anima a Rússia. Não é possível compreender o que está acontecendo hoje com todas essas mentiras inconcebíveis e acusações ensandecidas contra a Rússia por todos os crimes imagináveis.
